How do we measure heart?
Is a horse capable of knowing he is limited in appearance, physical attributes, or ability? Does he understand that he is not physically capable of running that fast or turning that sharp? Does he know that every ounce of courage he can muster up is needed to face the task we put in front of them?.
maybe.....................
Here is the story of one full of heart!
Latigos Luck is pictured here as a weanling in 1975.
Nothing special about him except for his big hip and kind eyes. But something had drawn Clyde to him and he purchased the colt for a mere $400.
Did Clyde have any idea that his young colt would become the 1982 AQHA res world champion in working cowhorse and then the following year win the all around trophy saddle at the prestigeous Monsieur Moore Quarter Horse Show.?
And that Latigos Luck would become an AQHA top Ten in cowhorse several times? He also won the Southwest Reining competition and was hi point reiner of the state many times!
What makes this such an incredible story is that Latigos Luck did all this remarkable winning on only three good legs !!
He broke his shoulder when he slipped on ice before he even began competition!
His heart is what made him a winner and his loyal determination to please his rider and to hear the screams of the crowd cheering him on!
He could head a bad cow along the fence like no other horse and could leave you completely breathless in his turnaround!
He was a true athlete who was driven by his heart, determination and willing attitude.
